Impact of Front Line Demonstrations.
Due to above mentioned feed back among the demonstrated varieties viz. TAMS 38 and MAUS 71 are being adopted continuously by the farmers in the villages and spread over horizontally from farmer to farmer. The seed of above improved varieties multiplied in KVK farm and sold to the farmers. Presently the above varieties are cultivated in an area of about 3000 ha in the district.
Strategies for Increasing the Soybean Productivity in Washim District of Maharashtra.
- 1) Use of new improved high yielding and recommended varieties namely TAMS 38, MAUS 71 and TAMS 98-21.
- 2) Soil test based application of manures and fertilizers.
- 3) Seed treatment with PSB, Rhizobium and Trichoderma Viride.
- 4) Adoption of in situ moisture conservation by making ridges and furrows across the slope.
- 5) Maintaining optimum plant population of 4 to 4.5 lakh/ha by adopting the spacing of 30x8cm or 45x5cm by use of planters.
- 6) Dibbling or planting of Soybean on ridges and furrows.
- 7) Use of 2% urea at 50 DAS and 70 DAS.
- 8) Use of 5% neem seed extract with 50% of recommended dose of conventional insecticide i.e. Endosulfan after 25 DAS and 35 DAS.
- 9) Harvesting of soybean at physiological maturity and correct moisture by tractor or power tiller operated reapers.
