Role of distributors & agents in exporting business

As a manufacturer or exporter who is willing to step into some foreign market, you should better be starting in a safe and calculated manner. One relatively safe and secure method is to start with indirect exports and see the response. There are many ways to start indirect exports, but the most widely used method is to hire the services of commission agents or get into a contract with some distributor. Although, their roles may sound a bit similar, both of them differ at some points. Let's look into the role of these two in detail.

Agents:
Also known as commission agents, they are responsible for selling your products in foreign market. They are experienced campaigners and quite familiar with the market you are going to target. They know the customers and their needs. However, the thing to remember is that they are solely responsible for selling your products. They do not buy from you directly; neither do they involve themselves in delivery or after sale services in most cases. Their source of earning is the fixed commission on every sale (or gross sales, they will make for you).

Commission agents must be able to meet following requirements before you hire their services.

Should be having loads of experience
Check to see if the agent also deals in some of your competitive products
Past record of sales and the stats for business they have provided to other exporters in the past
How much of the market that agent can cover on his/her own and to what extent
Do they sell to end users or businesses?

Distributors:
Unlike commission agents, distributors normally purchase the product from you (at low rates) and then sell it in the market, all the time maintaining some inventory with them. Given, they also provide after sale services, they are more suited if your product needs some installation work or requires after sale services.

Distributors should be financially stable
They must be good in inventory stocking and warehouse management
Should be having technical information about the product (train them if needed)
Should be ready to work at price margins you are willing to offer
Be careful when going into a contract and think over the clauses many times before signing
Distributor should be capable of running or managing the advertising campaign if needed

Now, whether you should go for agents or distributors? The answer to this question will depend on your product and preferences.

Some standard export contracts and their significance

Export Contracts:
Buyers and sellers have to settle on issues like price, mode of payment, delivery of goods or the possession of goods in all types of sales and purchase. For example, when we go to the market and buy something, there is an understanding at work between both parties, because the payment and delivery of goods is made on the spot, we don't normally need a contract or agreement in this case.

Export and especially international export is not that simple. So many new factors come into play such as different currencies, mode of shipment or delivery time. Delivery takes time and somebody has to bear the risk and expenses of cargo, insurance, etc. Importers and exporters need to secure themselves and this sense of security comes from agreeing upon all the terms and conditions of trade. Both parties will sign on an agreement that states these provisions in detail. Normally export contracts have following sections.

i. Specifications & Signature of contracting parties
ii. Specifications of trading products
iii. Price & terms of payment
iv. Mode of shipment & Delivery period
v. Contract Validity

Following are some of the standard export contracts. These standards are known as "Incoterms", developed and published by "International Chamber of Commerce".

Free on Board:
Importer designates a board (ship) and exporter is responsible to deliver goods on the ship. Exporter has to bear all expenses except the insurance and cargo charges. FOB contract works only when maritime transportation is used as the mode of shipment.

Cost, Insurance and Freight (C.I.F):
Unlike F.O.B, the exporter has to arrange (and pay) for everything including shipment and insurance. In both types (F.O.B and C.I.F) delivery time is crucial and exporter is obliged to deliver the goods on the exact date that has been specified in the contract.

Ex works:
Seller's obligation ends when he makes the goods available at his place. Buyer arranges and pays for everything after that (clearance, transportation, etc).

Delivered Ex Ship:
Seller is responsible for delivering the goods to the port (advised by the buyer). Unlike F.O.B, where seller has to deliver the goods on the ship, in DES the seller has to bear the risk along with freight and insurance cost.

Free Carrier:
This "incoterm" is quite similar to F.O.B, but unlike F.O.B (that's just used for maritime transport), Free carrier (FCA) is used for all types of transport including air, by rail or road.

International Export Packaging

In international export, it may take several days, even weeks before the products reach to the customer, after being dispatched by exporters. Being an exporter, it's your responsibility to package all exporting items in a way that your customers will acquire them in excellent condition. Apart from protection; packaging is also used for marketing (labels & logos) or information (guidelines for consumers) purposes. Exporting products are vulnerable against physical shocks, crushing, climate change, mishandling, etc and the packaging should be able to safeguard them against all these hazards. Though the packaging standards differ with the countries and products, there are some minimum requirements that you need to take care of.

Packaging Box and Tapes:
Usually cardboard boxes are used when packaging for shipment. Always use firm boxes with proper flaps; extra padding (or cushioning) is compulsory for breakable items. Size of the box should be according to the product size, not too small (that you have to forcefully stuff all items inside) and not too large (that the goods can move around and clash with each other). Use separate wrapping for each item. If the products are of fragile nature, you can use wooden box for extra protection. Use standard tapes instead of normal household tapes, special tapes for packaging purpose are easily available. Extra safety measures are needed when you are exporting "food" items.

Addressing & Labeling:
Recipient address should be clearly mentioned, also the sender address where the products will return in case they don't reach the addressee. Also, mention the recipient contact number to ensure the delivery. Your business or brand logos on the package can be used for marketing and promotional objectives. Sometimes attractive packaging is used as a competitor advantage. You can also use the packaging to communicate with the customers about the other products or services you are offering. If the products are fragile or breakable, you can state these characteristics outside the box and give instructions for careful handling.

When exporting to developed countries, be sure to obtain knowledge about the acceptable packaging standards in that country. You can also refer to ISO standards in these cases. It's better to have a clear idea of all the possible hazards that the products can face before they will reach their destination. Remember the main motives of packaging that includes physical protection, quality preservation, storage convenience, marketing and product information. Adopting world-class standards is vital when doing international export, not only your product but your packaging should be of export quality in order to stand out.

China's Imports, Exports Drop 10.1% In September

China's foreign trade continued to fall in September, but the rate of decline slowed sharply, the General Administration of Customs said Wednesday. The total value of imports and exports for September was 218.94billion U.S. dollars, down 10.1 percent from the same month last year, but up 14.2 percent from August.

Imports stood at 103.01 billion U.S. dollars, down by 3.5 percent from September last year and up 17 percent from August. Exports in September dropped 15.2 percent from the same month last year to 115.93 billion U.S. dollars, but their value rose 11.8 percent from August. For the first three quarters, China's foreign trade was down by20.9 percent from the same period last year to 1.56 trillion U.S. dollars.

Exports dropped by 21.3 percent from the same period last year to 846.65 billion U.S. dollars. Imports were 711.17 billion U.S. dollars, representing a decrease of 20.4 percent from the same period last year. The total trade surplus was 135.48 billion U.S. dollars from January to September, a decrease of 26 percent from the same period last year.

In the first three quarters, the European Union remained China's leading trade partner, with a total trade volume of 260.05 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 19.4 percent over the same period last year. The trade volume between China and the United States, China's second largest trade partner, dropped 15.8 percent from a year earlier to 211.88 billion U.S. dollars.

"Efforts from the Chinese government and enterprises made the market share of China's exports stabilize," said Zhang Yansheng, director of the Institute of Foreign Trade under the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planner. Zhang attributed the slowdown of exports to stronger global market demand in the past months.

"The global economy is showing signs of recovery, although the developed countries like the United States and Japan have not totally shaken off the negative effects from the global economic downturn," said Zhao Jinping, a senior researcher with the Development Research Center of the State Council. "China's foreign trade dropped remarkably in the first half year. The decrease rate slowed down in the third quarter. The favorable trend is expected to continue in the fourth quarter. But this will not change the whole year decrease of China's foreign trade," Zhao said.

China's export in 2009 is expected to drop by 15 percent, Zhao predicted. Zhang echoed Zhao's forecast, estimating the rate of decrease would range from 15 percent to 20 percent for entire 2009.

How Your Perception Can Limit Effective Employee Performance

What you see isn't what you get. What you believe you see largely determines what you get. We usually call this "perception". And it can have a devastating effect on managerial judgement.

"What you see is what you get", goes the old saying. It's wrong. What you get is your interpretation of what you see. There's a big difference. It's usually called perception. It's defined as how you perceive people, things, situations and circumstances. It pervades business life.

How We "See" Things

We acknowledge the importance of perception in everyday sayings. "I see…", "I've seen the light", "it's as if a veil has been lifted", "I've changed my view": none of these sayings are about sight. Each refers to perception.

Perception Depends On Interpretation

Perception depends on your interpretation of what you see. It doesn't matter whether your interpretation is accurate or not. It doesn't matter how biased you are. You will interpret what you see according to your experience and opinions. That can cause difficulties in managing employee performance.

Perception And Employees

Let's say you believe that a particular employee or group of employees is lazy, uncommitted and incompetent. Your perception will have a major influence on your behaviour towards that employee or group. The reverse is equally true. If your perceptions are based on fact, there's no problem. But if it's based on hearsay or others' opinions or simply insufficient information, you could easily make serious errors of judgement.

Perception And Customers

Ever "tear you hair out" about a major prospect who continues to trade with a competitor? You have demonstrated beyond question that your product and service is superior to that of your competitor in every conceivable way. It's even 25% cheaper. The prospect refuses to budge. That's perception in action. Whether you like it or not, that customer perceives that his needs are best satisfied by dealing with your competitor.

Perception Is Opinion Based

Frequently, our perception of a person or situation reflects our emotions. You may feel that you've been poorly treated by, say, a human resources consultant. You become suspicious of all human resources consultants. You won't change your mind unless you receive very good treatment from other human resource professionals. It doesn't matter that your opinion is ill considered or even absolutely wrong. As a mentor of mine used to say years ago, "the opinions that people hold are facts to them".

Employees' Perception Of Each Other

Employees have perceptions of each other. And groups of employees have perceptions of other groups. "Those finance people only care about cutting costs," say the sales staff. "Those salespeople always rort their expenses," say the finance staff. On and on it goes. You don't need me to provide examples.

Employee's Perception Of Managers

Make no mistake. Every employee has a perception of you as manager. Positive, negative, accurate, inaccurate, emotional or rational: each employee "sees" you in his or her own way. Their perception may be based on one or a number of events: on a brief exchange or long experience. But they exist.

Perception Is Inevitable

Whether it takes an hour to create or is a year in the making, perception is inevitable. You – and everyone else – will perceive things in a certain way. This even applies to people and situations you know almost nothing about and have little or no experience of. If you don't believe me, just ask an economist.

The Only Reality

The Dean of one of our leading management schools used to say "perception is the only reality". That may be rather extreme. But it does remind us of the dangers of subjectivity. As managers we may see ourselves as objective and impartial. But our objectivity and impartiality may be based on some erratic perceptions.

Conclusion

Perception is real. It's normal. It's part of our response to normal events and human interactions of business. Have a long hard look at whether your perceptions are interfering with your business judgement.

Four United Kingdom Export-Import Tools To Launch A Successful Business

The United Kingdom, made up of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Island, is a beautiful and iconic land of history and progress.

Historically, the United Kingdom helped make western civilization what it is today through its sometimes stormy, mostly allied relationship with the United States. There are also many historic sites, such as Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London.

Progressively, the United Kingdom ranks as the sixth largest economy in the world and the third in all of Europe (behind Germany and France).

United Kingdom Export-Import business opportunities are wide open for the skillful entrepreneur looking for a lucrative means to more freedom and financial independence. If you are looking to start an export-import to the United Kingdom business, you should be aware and make use of the tools that are at your disposal: tools to ensure fair and legal treatment as you ship out and receive products and services to outside vendors.

Here are four essential tools that you will want to put to use when starting your United Kingdom export-import business:

Power of the Web: There are many sites that offer generally useful information that talk about the pitfalls, warnings, tips, and tricks, you really need to get started benefiting from any export-import business. There are also sites out there devoted to export-import to the United Kingdom. You should use a combination of general and specific sites to set a positive course.

Customs Brokers: If you are a small business attempting to navigate the tricky maze of paperwork that is sometimes associated with an export-import business, then you should think about using a specialist. Customs brokers are there to help you get around possible delays you will almost certainly experience if attempting to go it alone. If there is any area of your business to outsource, this is it.

Freight Forwarders: In the export-import business, the only thing absolute is there are no absolutes. This particularly applies to the range of products you can choose to work with, and the many different ways to handle them with regards to customs and shipping. Freight forwarders specialize in knowing these differences, and can be tremendous stress relievers as you work to get ahead.

Banks: We all want to get paid, right? It is essential you communicate with your bank, particularly with regards to Letters of Credit. Letters of Credit are the preferred mode of payment in the export-import game, no matter where you operate from, or with whom you transact business. Banks protect you from fraud. Period. You can use a reputable transaction broker, such as Paypal, but will most likely lose more of your monies to higher fees. It is better for both parties to go through a bank for Letters of Credit. Not only is it dependable, but it also sends a message of professionalism in dealing with vendors.

If you are ready to trade in the United Kingdom export-import field, then you will familiarize yourself with these tools and use them in your trade. Only then can you promote a strong working relationship that delivers the goods on business confidence.

How the global recession has affected Latin America

This region has surprised a lot of its critics by doing better overall than its other more developed neighboring countries. International businesses have realized the potential of this region and are actively looking for ways to penetrate this market.

Latin America on the global scene

The region is enjoying international interest thanks to some very important events being hosted in Brazil. The soccer world Cup and the summer Olympics will be hosted in this region in 2014 and 2016 respectively. This is the first time the Olympics will be hosted in Latin America.

Basics of Import Export

Importing is simply transferring one particular good or commodity from one country to another whilst paying attention to the laws and requirements of bringing goods or commodities into that country. Imported goods are produced by foreign bodies and are destined to be used by domestic consumers (customers). If you are importing in a large amount for commercial purposes you all need to have the consent of the local customs department and the right paperwork to make sure everything goes well for you.

Exporting is the process of transferring one good from another country to the country in which your operations take place. It is the reciprocal of importing. Again, this process is subject to relevant legal, political and logistical restrictions. Export forms an important and basic component of international trade. Export goods are produced locally and traded globally

Import and export are the key pieces of international trade. International trade is a neat umbrella term that is used for all transactions and goods/services exchange between countries. Of late massive increases in transport efficiency, globalisation and technological uptake have lead to a surge in importing and exporting between countries.

If you are looking forward to start your own business venture in the field of import-export business then here are some tips for starters. Countries set up their own embassies in foreign countries to promote the exporting of their own goods. These embassies have great programs and a great deal of information about their goods so you can find out exactly what it is you are looking to buy. If you are exporting you can approach your local department of trade or the like and see what plans they have on offer to promote exports.

However you must make sure that you follow the letter of the law or you can be placed into serious legal difficulty. Contact your country tax department to find out if there is a particular process to setting up an import/export company and what documentation you will require. It is also imperative that you find out about any licensing requirements for importing and exporting of goods

Certain countries refuse to trade with other countries and will not allow their goods to go to that country and vice versa, this is known as an embargo. Make sure that there are no embargoes with the country you are looking to trade with. To properly insulate yourself consult that countr embassy to see if there are restrictions against goods from your country.

If you follow these instructions and pay attention to these basic elements of importing and exporting you should be well on your way to putting together a great import/export plan in no time.

Export And Import In Canada

Conducting an export/import business in Canada is always a lucrative proposal. But at the same time, it is also a complicated affair to set up your office there. As the old saying goes "nothing worth having is free" and businesses such as these are the same. If you want to set up business in Canada, there are a lot of things you much take care of, like in all other countries. This includes mostly of government permits, which allow you to do whatever you want to legally. Legal sanctions give you authenticity, credibility and power. Power to expand your business, power to pursue legal cases and the power to be successful on a foreign soil.

Another aspect of doing business in Canada is hiring and maintaining a trustworthy staff of people who will run your business on your behalf. This is a really tricky area because so much can go wrong here. You not only need people for administrative positions, you also need to recruit people for handling groundwork, sales, inventory, shipping and so much more. Also, if your business is people based like a chain of stores, you also need to ensure that the proper staffs are maintained at those places as well.

At these times, maintaining small inventories in the country is the easy thing to do, but it is also the less profitable option. If you want to maintain a good margin and get the most out of your investment, you need to create large inventories, which will then in turn ship on demand. This is truly the best way to do business but who will see to it that your inventories are maintained properly. Exporting parts of your own staff will cost you're a lot plus there is a limit to how many well performing personnel you can send away.

Instead, it is better to look at services that are available in Canada that are focused on providing logistics and support solutions to businesses. Services actually go beyond just common support and logistics. They are willing to provide you will all the support from the get go, providing you with assistance during the important steps in the sequence like obtaining local and national permits. Obtaining their services can actually help you cut your overhead and make it a priority-based itemization for you, so you end up spending only what you need.

When it comes to conducting an import/export business in Canada, there are many areas that will need your attention. You will have to take a lot of pains to set the entire business up on your own and it also might be harmful for your business. That is because you really have to ensure that you get everything right. Knowing local laws can be hard when you are an outsider and it is also very difficult for even the local businesses that want to export their products. So it is really in the best interest of your business to hire people who are in the know.

Marketing Strategies for Import Export Business

If you are aspiring to be an import export agent, drive home one fact, that it is a lucrative profession. Across the world, there have been great success stories about import export business. At the same time, some have faced defeat as well. However, the failure stories get concealed quite often.

Many people actively participate in trading or work as agents to major exporters and importers. It is all based on the products that are dealing with, your financial ability and the country you are trading with etc.

How different are the marketing strategies from export business?

It is often said that, the strategies of marketing involved in local marketing is not very different from the export market. Every country perceives products differently and hence makes use of different marketing strategies. It is usually the distributors who take care of the type of marketing strategy that is employed.

If you are trading with other countries, learn about its license requirements if any. Some countries have no license requirements for particular products. Certain high risk products like chemicals, liquor, medicines, arms, articles etc may demand a license. However, products like consumer goods are of low risk and can be traded well without any risk. Trade products with no barriers and is simple.

Ensure for the smooth running of the distribution and production channels. Look at your stock positioning, brand positioning too. Stock positioning is nothing but moving the stocks from a country which has it in excess to a country where there is a scarcity. Where there is a demand for the product moving it there makes more sense. Save out on money too! Create a domain of your own, to promote the products.

You as an import export agent is not known by all. Before you take a plunge on your import export business set your marketing strategies rightly. Ensure that your products are of good quality. Follow up with good quality control measures. Promote your products well, as you are not well known in the market yet. Build up enough credibility for your product. Choose the right medium for advertising your products. Get a search engine friendly website, build up your web pages with sufficient search engine optimisation done to your site, off page optimisation is also important to gain traffic from other sites too, thus boosts up the ranking of your site and you gain visibility. Five Hazards Of The Export-import Argentina Trade

The thought of an Export-Import Argentina business may be very promising to you if you have a familiarity with the region and/or with export-import businesses in general. But before you step forward into a new area of business, you need to be aware of some of the dangers lurking out there, ready to derail your business. With an Export-Import Argentina business, use caution and beware of these five hazards that can end things before they get started.

Working with the wrong vendors: One of the most important factors to the success of your Argentina export and import business is whom you choose to work with. The Internet has opened up the marketplace, and unfortunately, that's allowed some disreputable vendors to slip through the cracks. You want to choose someone who will live up to what they promise. Someone who offers quality merchandise at reasonable prices.

Choosing poorly performing products: Even the best vendors may not be enough if you have a misguided business sense. You need to choose products that you know will sell. Look in to competitive products and companies. See what they're charging, and see what customers are buying for. Only then can you avoid this potentially disastrous hazard for your Export-Import Argentina business.

Selecting the wrong forms of payment: Paypal is a good source for payment when dealing with international businesses, but it still doesn't offer you the protection and peace of mind that a letter of credit from a reputable financial institution can give you. A letter of credit is an agreement between you and the vendor as overseen by the financial institute to ensure the transfer of payment and product. With letters of credit, there are never any questions that one or both parties fulfilled their obligations under the agreement.

Researching in the wrong places: Start with your country's Embassy in Argentina. There, you will have an official government source that you can trust. This source will keep record of all the reputable suppliers as well as what products are in demand for import, and what products are popular for export. It's a one-stop shop for all your Export-Import Argentina business needs.

Selling in the wrong markets: The wrong market doesn't necessarily have to be a bad market. To sell in the wrong market means to sell in a place where you can't get top dollar for the product. If you think you can make a lot more money off a product that people can hold in their hands at a location where they may do so, then avoid the online auctions. There is flooded competition in the online auction marketplace, and that can lead to low gross for premium product.

Your Export-Import Argentina business can be very lucrative if you do your homework. Avoid the hazards, and plan well before setting out on your own.

Exporting as A Home Business

Every day hundreds of thousands of products come into and leave the shores of every country. Even just some of the small products you see in stores everyday have come from foreign countries. They come from everywhere to meet the demand for that product in your country. If you are a home business entrepreneur and you are hungry for opportunity there is no better place to start than import/export businesses.

Import/export is one of the fastest growing areas that home business are getting involved in because of how little is needed to start and maintain the business. As globalisation spreads the barriers to importing and exporting are getting so low that it is getting easier and easier to get involved. Keep in mind that there are literally millions of products out there that people want and need and they will purchase those products at a significant mark up. By being intelligent and properly managing the products you sell and the business you can easily turn an import/export company into a great business opportunity.

So just how does importing and exporting work? Well, lets have a look at some of the ways you can turn it into a great home business opportunity:

Find niche markets Lets say you stumble across a product like specialised body kits for a particular car. You know that theres a big fan club for this car but you have not seen any of these body kits around. Or maybe they are not available overseas. Canvas small niches to find products that you can guarantee a revenue stream from

Find what your area needs - keep in mind that not all exporting is just country to country. You can also import goods between states so pay attention to what goods people around your or people overseas are saying they need and try to find a supplier for those goods. Keeping your ear to the ground can really help you capitalise on demand.

Find what other areas need Import / export is not just about buying from other areas and reallocating those products in your area. You can also find products that others need that may be produced in your area and start shipping those overseas or interstate. Again, it is all about canvassing markets to find out what people are looking for.

Import / export is one of the best home business opportunities. It is easy to start up and for the most part often only requires you to communicate with distributors and receivers, without even having to receive the goods. All you have to do is manage the distributors and those that wish to purchase them The only other aspect of import / export that needs to be looked at is building the necessary relationships with distributors, so you will have a place to sell your product when you bring it in.

Find a product, fill a niche - that is what the import / export industry is all about. If you are already thinking about a good you can make a quick profit on by importing and then selling, you have already taken your first step towards import/export success.

Five Questions to Starting Your Own Successful USA Export-Import Business

Starting your own USA export-import business can be an intimidating challenge if you are unsure of where to begin. After all, an export-import business requires the use of cultural understandings and the embrace of technology to foster relationships that will build your business and help it to thrive.

It is not a business you should take lightly, and one you should thoroughly research once committing to it.
Here are five considerations for your export-import USA business:

1. Who can you trust? A successful USA export-import business cannot get off the ground until you learn who you can trust. And to learn just who that is, you must start with your country's consulate or embassy. Consulates provide the directories you will need to learn the major players in the industry (or industries) you have chosen to go after. Checking the Embassy's website can also yield useful information such as directories and manufacturer lists that will benefit you greatly in your earning power. Consulates and embassies can also give you an idea of which products have a market in the country with which you are trading.

2. What are the legal requirements? There are a number of legal considerations when starting your own USA export-import business. You should start by contacting your country's taxation department for help with procedures, registration numbers, and other possible requirements. Next, find out the licensing requirements for the products you wish to promote and sell. Don't panic too much. Most products do not have any specific requirements, but if you are looking to get into the trade of higher risk products such as liquor and pharmaceuticals, then you will certainly have to jump through a few more hoops.

3. Are there any restrictions? Some countries have trade barriers set up against them, and engaging in any sort of activity which violates these embargoes can mean penalties for your business. Your government should have a clear understanding of the embargoes that exist, but you should not stop there. Contact the consulates or embassies for the countries with which you want to do business to see if your own country has any embargoes against it.

4. What areas of your business can be outsourced? If you have never heard of a customs broker or a freight forwarder, then starting your own USA export-import business is a great way for you to get acquainted with them. After all, they can make sure that you navigate the maze of paperwork at borders, avoiding fines and delays that come with improper procedure. Freight forwarders take the guesswork out of all your shipping requirements, further automating your business.

5. How will you handle payment terms? The most commonly accepted form of payment in an export-import USA business is via letters of credit. A letter of credit indicates that a reputable bank is standing behind the transaction, ensuring that payment is processed before goods are received – invaluable no matter which side of the transaction you are on.

Benefits of Starting Your Import Export Business in USA

With the recent struggling economic climate, you may be hesitant about starting your own import-export business in the USA. After all, the economic crisis of America has been all over the world news. And it has no doubt produced a ripple effect that has spread across oceans to other countries. However, with recent indications showing that recovery is on the way, this is perhaps the best time to consider taking the plunge.

What do you stand to benefit by opening your own import-export business in the USA? Well, for starters, you can enjoy:

More Freedom

Be prepared for this one because "More Freedom" does not mean that you can do whatever you want whenever you want, if you do not take your work seriously. As with any business, you will not be able to enjoy success without getting your name out there and making sure your revenue is greater than your overhead.

This entails work, but at the same time, it is work you can do on your schedule without requiring a boss that breathes down your neck every five seconds to "look busy" even if there is "nothing to do."

Starting your own import-export business will make you acutely aware there is plenty that needs doing, such as finding the right product, attracting loyal customers, securing reputable vendors, and maintaining a workable budget. But you are in charge, and you can use your freedom to build a thriving business.

Financial Independence

At most jobs, the best you will ever see is a 3-5% raise per year. Is that enough to cover the cost of living? In good times, yes! Bad times? No. When gas was selling at over $4 per gallon, the idea of being able to make all your bills and afford the basic necessities of life was something of an unfunny joke.

And that was if you were lucky enough to keep your job!

Starting your own import-export business in the USA means your survival is no longer in the hands of a corporate head looking out for number one. It is up to you. And best of all, you can enjoy greater financial rewards for your efforts.

If exporting to the USA, make sure you communicate with the American Consulate in your country to get a feel for which of your products or services there is need. If importing, know which products or services are performing well in your own country, and again seek the guidance of the American Consulate in your country to obtain reputable sources.

Whichever path you choose, and you may find both lucrative, do not start your own export-import USA business until you have identified the legal requirements for doing business in your country. USA export-import can be very rewarding to those willing to do the research and take the plunge. The freedom and financial dependence alone are enough. Just make sure you understand it is not a get-rich-quick scheme, but a viable avenue to fulfilling your business, and life, goals.

Presence Of Huge Reserves In South And Central American Region Will Drive The Growth Of The Exploration And Production Sector

The huge proved oil and gas reserves in South and Central America and its potential have made the region a lucrative investment destination for global oil and gas majors. The vast heavy oil reserves in Venezuela, the huge sub-salt finds in Brazil and the increasing number of discoveries in Colombia has reinforced the huge potential of the region.

The region accounted for approximately 14% of the global oil and gas reserves and about 12% of the total oil and gas production in 2009. Consequently, with an expected increase in oil and gas reserves in the region and increased E&P activities, the share of this region in the global oil and gas supply is expected to increase in the coming years.

South and Central America, % of Global Reserves and Production, 2009

National Oil Companies Are Expected To Continue To Dominate The Exploration And Production And Pipeline Industry In The South And Central American Region

National Oil Companies (NOCs) dominate the upstream sector in Mexico, Brazil and Venezuela, with these three countries together accounting for approximately 91% of the total oil and gas reserves in the region. NOCs in these countries account for over 90% of the oil production in each country. The NOCs in Colombia and Ecuador also accounted for more than 50% of the total oil produced. NOCs will continue to dominate the energy sector in their respective countries with support from their national governments. Major South and Central American countries help them to dominate the upstream sector.

The Menace of Land Pollution from Oil Rigs

Oil is a commodity which is needed for many purposes in our lives. The uses of the oil are sometimes off set by the hazards that occur. These hazards can occur on the ocean waters and also on the land. The land pollution which is the result of this spilled oil is just as damaging as those of the ocean variety.

As with the ocean variety the land pollution is difficult to remove but every effort must be made. Like the animals that live and visit the ocean the land animals are at risk from this pollution. There is also a risk of the oil spill leaking into the underground water table. When this occurs the rivers and lakes will also get caught to the flow of the oil that is polluting the surface.

This land pollution can happen when the pipes that carry the oil to the refining plants will corrode and break. These breaks are what causes the oil to spill onto the land and then flow everywhere that is in the path of the oil. In some dire cases the oil spill will occur due to malicious acts.

These acts are in some cases sabotage or terrorist activities. While these are very serious accidents they are hard to investigate and prove. The most that oil companies can do is to repair the breaks and posts guards to protect the pipe lines. This operation is very costly and not very feasible as there are many miles of pipe lines to protect.

While the cases of land pollution from oil rigs or oil pipe lines is not that known there have been instances where these oil spills have caused the environment massive damage. The cost to the oil company is also very high. For this reason the different oil companies are now looking into various other methods of transporting the oil to the refineries. They are also developing new methods of cleaning up the land pollution that is caused by the oil spills.

A few of these methods involve the use of naturally biodegradable substances. These substances are designed to soak up the oil that is lodged in the surface and under the soil. As a result of using products like the land pollution effects from land oil spills can be reversed. The land is then free to begin re-growing. The vegetation and the water table will become clear of any oil.

The work of the groups should continue as oil is a commodity that is still in heavy use. This makes the possibility of an oil spill a major problem in land pollution. By using substances like this people can find ways of clearing the long term effects to nature that are caused by oil spills.

Home Business Tutorial

I sell items on eBay and enjoy teaching others how to make money with eBay auctions, but I admit to doing my fair share of buying, too. Recently I found a few items I wanted to add to my collection, and even though I knew the items would go for several hundred dollars, I noticed the seller began the auction price at 99 cents. Is this a good idea? Turns out that it's an excellent idea. A recent study performed by the London Business School and two professors from Northwestern University proved that items that were posted with an opening price of one penny actually ended up selling at "significantly higher" prices than auctions for the same item that began at higher prices. Why does this work so well? The biggest reason is the psychological impact on buyers. Everyone loves a bargain, and a price of one cent is going to get everyone's attention. Obviously the item won't end up selling for that price, but it does tend to get more attention. Let's say you do a search on Nikon cameras (one of the items included in the study). You see 20 of them, and one of them has a price of 99 cents. Even though you know you're not going to win the auction with that bid, you're very likely to click on the listing. And as an eBay seller, we know that the first battle is to get potential buyers to look at your listing! There's always an exception to the rule, and according to the study, if you're selling a "niche item" - an item that is intended for a specialized audience that you're not expecting a great deal of bidding on - then you should start with a price closer to what you actually expect to get. Even if you're concerned about getting less than you hoped for, don't try to lower the price on the item by making it up with shipping overcharges. I've seen sellers put a "Buy It Now" item up for a couple of dollars less than other sellers, but they were charging $7 to ship something that should have cost no more than $2. eBay is also starting to crack down on shipping overcharges, and even if that proves to be ineffective, I can tell you from personal experience as an eBay buyer that your customers will never forget being overcharged for shipping - and there's a good chance that these overcharges will stop them from becoming your customers to begin with! Aim for a fair profit, price your items accordingly, and you'll be on your way to making money with eBay auctions. Just as your item description and starting price affect the number of bids you get, so does the timing of your posting. We'll discuss that tomorrow in my next eBay home business tutorial!

Apply For An Apprentice Program

Apprentice programs depend upon the employer's initiative. In many situations, the candidates receive job training in the classroom and with the advice of a mentor. Mentors are generally people who are working in the industry and who have experience to assist the apprentices, as well as answer any questions or concerns with regards the program.

How To Select And Apply For An Apprentice Program Finding an apprentice program is much simpler than you may think. Many states provide information to individuals who are interested about the location and also guide them on application formalities. Many state apprenticeship information websites include searchable formats by both geographical location as well as by country and a search option by specific industry of interest.

If you are not able to access any programs within your state listings, then you can also check the Federal Government website; it provides information and details of contacts for various apprenticeship programs through the United States Department of Labor. All industries do not conduct apprenticeship programs. As in some cases, this is not practical. Industries that offer apprentice programs are information technology, automotive, construction, security, healthcare and financial services. Other industries also participate in apprentice programs, but these industries are the more common ones.

Who Is Eligible? Registered apprenticeship programs are applicable to anyone who is 16 or older. However, individuals should be 18 and above in order to be an apprentice in a hazardous occupation. Individuals seeking apprenticeships should satisfy the sponsor and should have the ability, aptitude and appropriate education for the field. Along with the application form, you have to include a transcript of your school subjects and grades, as well as references from any previous employers.

What Is A Registered Apprenticeship Program? If you think that apprenticeship programs are like the reality show "Apprentice", then you are wrong! Registered apprentice models have helped various industries and businesses with their training needs. These models provide apprentice participants the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience as well as classroom education through a formatted comprehensive process.

A registered apprentice program provides a fixed standard of progress for delivering the training, followed by a certification degree, which is extremely helpful in securing jobs after training. In addition to the on-the-job training, students also find the classroom training quite helpful in learning to identify and solve the minute problems involved in the daily activities of their selected industrial field - and the classroom education provides support to apprentices through mentor coaching. Tips For Apprenticeship Program As you graduate from high school or college, you should think about your career options and always consider industrial areas that are growing rapidly, along with those industries that may require employees for the long term. The healthcare industry is considered to be one of the strongest industries that lend a helping hand to individuals seeking apprentice programs. Apprenticeship is one of the best ways for an individual to acquire the training and experience to get started on a career.

Trends in the Third Party Logistics Industry

The marketplace for third-party logistics is arguably the largest market in the world. Any physical good that comes into or goes out of the United States requires extensive logistics planning and management and must be cleared by U.S. Customs. Because of the complexities of these processes, most businesses choose to hire a 3PL provider to manage the transportation, clearance, warehousing, and distribution of their shipments.

Market Statistics

In 2006, imports to the United States exceeded $2.2 trillion (a 10.5% increase over 2005) and exports exceeded $1.4 trillion (an increase of 12.8%). Each of these goods required a number of shipping and warehousing services and must receive US Customs clearance… this is where Go Global takes over.

In 2006, the total revenue for the 3PL industry was $110.6 billion, representing a total industry growth rate of 11.9%. Datamonitor projects that by 2010, the total 3PL market will exceed $140 billion.

Global trade management is also part of the focus at Go Global Logistics. In 2005, the global trade management segment expanded to $222 million, and is expected to swell to $405 million by 2010, a cumulative annual growth rate of 12.8%.

The Go Global Marketplace is cornering this portion of the market, encouraging small and mid-sized businesses to participate in global trade, under the consultation of Go Global. By using the marketplace to manage our customer's transactions, Go Global is able to provide FREE transaction management, shipment tracking, trade negotiations, and our "bidding war" reverse auction function, adding value for our clients and strengthening our comparative advantage over the competition.

Many companies entered international markets precipitously and are only now beginning to address the lack of visibility across their supply chains. Only the largest 3PL (third party logistics) providers offer the newest technologies like online tracking, and 90% of enterprises report that their global supply chain technology is inadequate to provide the timely information necessary for budget and cash-flow planning as well as effective management. Go Global Logistics offers every tool your company needs to have an efficient and transparent supply chain to make your importing and exporting as easy and error free as possible.

One of the most counterintuitive aspects of the freight forwarding and third party logistics industry is the lack of a central location for international trade information and services. The industry is extremely

Furthermore, those companies that do provide complete 3PL services are very large and have been focusing on maintaining a small number of larger accounts. Many small and mid-sized businesses who were fortunate enough to find a reliable 3PL provider find themselves being squeezed out and not having their contracts renewed. The smaller third party logistics providers do not offer the newer supply chain technologies, and are characterized by "old school" business practices.

Go Global is involved in many of the fastest growing markets in the world such as Asia and Western Europe where the market is expected to grow 33% over the next five years. It is projected that after five years, 3PLs (third party logistics providers) will handle more than 57% of the sector's supply chain requirements. This provides tremendous growth opportunities for Go Global.

Go Global is also slowly expanding into the African markets as the infrastructure and problems with governmental corruption improves. Foreign Direct Investment in Africa has been steadily rising, a sign that it will soon be a viable target market for Go Global Logistics. In 2006, FDI increased 26.5% to $38.8 billion. If this trend continues to develop, Africa may be the next China of international trade, and Go Global hopes to be there to ride the wave.

Redefining the Market

Most small and mid-sized businesses search for 3PL providers on the internet, where 3PL advertising coverage is abysmal. Upon performing an online search for "customs broker" "3PL" or "logistics," the results yielded are generally unrelated to the services businesses are seeking. Go Global plans to capitalize on this by establishing a strong online presence with user-friendly information geared towards businesses new to international trade.

By providing innovative features that are valuable to our customers like the Go Global Online Marketplace, we attract a wide range of businesses seeking to or already engaged in international trade. The Go Global Marketplace is redefining the market by creating a centralized online marketplace allowing importers and exporters across the globe to connect and trade in a secure and efficient platform.

By providing low cost, scalable, online services with the same level of visibility available from the largest 3PLs, Go Global is redefining the world of international trade and supply chain services and continues to empower small and mid-sized businesses to compete on the global stage.

forward-looking

In 2005, China's exports of the entire national economy as a major bright spot, with a total value to achieve 762 billion U.S. dollars, up 28.4 percent. And watches the situation but it falls short of exports, over the years by curbing growth in a row, table clocks and have different levels of export decline. According to customs statistics, in 2005 bell and bell parts exports 629.6 million U.S. dollars, up 0.51 percent decline, in which the mechanical clock export volume fell 25.14 percent and exports fell 14.17 percent. Tables and Table parts exports 1,289,900,000 U.S. dollars, fell 5,29%, with the number of mechanical watch exports fell 39.58 percent and exports dropped 12.18 percent year-on-year; electronic watches export volume fell 14.28 percent and exports fell 4.68 percent. There are not counted replica watches market.

Looking ahead and predict the future development prospects of our watches, we make judgments and conclusions are "not optimistic."
Therefore, in order to enhance the future development of the watch industry to enhance its competitiveness in the industry bigger and stronger nation watches, mainly on the following aspects: to enlarge and strengthen China's national brands of watches and clocks, watches brands to build China's "aircraft carrier."

First, economic globalization in the world market today, watches from the industry's competitiveness in export of products, export of capital to enter the output stage of the brand. China clocks to watches in the world market leader, not a group or several internationally well-known brand ring David Card does not work. In recent years, Guangdong and Shenzhen as the representative of the nation watches the rapid development of industrial brands, made remarkable achievements. Especially Rossini, according to Bo, Fiyta, kings and other well-known brand's rise led the South, and China as a whole watch industry as a whole grade level and has greatly improved with the world watches to shorten the gap between developed countries . Shandong Yantai Polaris watches and clocks industry groups around the "play resource advantages, and promote brand strategy, and strive to enhance the overall image of Shandong watches and strength" goals, such as watches Polaris Group attached great importance to establish a sound trademark management system, to form an effective operational mechanism brand and to bring the trademark management gradually moving towards standardization, "Polaris" brand advantages in play. Don't let the replica Rolex, replica IWC,replica TAG,Omega Watches,Chanel Watch.

To enable the export of watches and clocks are no longer controlled by others, in recent years, many enterprises began to watch the establishment of the domestic marketing network system pay attention to, for example, Polaris watches exports through integrated production and sales channels as well as all aspects of personnel resources, to rationalize the system of foreign trade and exports to give full play to the "North Star" brand export advantages, with international brands to create conditions for competition.

Secondly, as China's foreign trade and exports for many years one of the major drawbacks, no rules, vicious competition, playing the "price war" the issue of cumulative, it is necessary to solve the problem, not an easy task. But the price system is not straightened out, the Chinese watch industry it is difficult to healthy and stable development. Shandong is China's wooden bell main production and export base, the annual production and export of wooden bell accounted for more than half of the world, but exports of playing the "price war" issue is also very serious, damaging the wooden bell all the interests of producers to make low-profit enterprises , non-profits or even losses. In this regard, "North Star" decision when a "leader", starting this year to take the lead in the domestic and foreign trade of wood products mechanical clock full price. apa

The Worst Natural Disasters that Hunanity Has Dealt With

Oil is part of nature but this substance can cause serious problems to nature. The problems arise when man who has mined or drilled for the oil is transporting the oil. Most of the time the oil will transported across the ocean in oil tankers. When some type of problem or malfunction occurs the oil tanker may end up leaking oil into the ocean. This leak is called an oil spill. These oil spills are one of the worst natural disasters to occur.

Unlike an oil spill that happens on the land, the ocean oil spills are more of a hazard as they can spread not just on the surface of the ocean but also under the ocean. The many animals that get caught to the oil spills have their lives put in immediate danger. They may become seriously sick, life threateningly so. They have the danger of becoming blinded due to getting caught in the oil spill.

This is a hazard that can cause them to become caught to a predator. As they can't see the predator, they instantly become a prey and can be eaten. The other problem that arises for oil spill animal victims is that they slowly choke to death as the oxygen in the water is caught by the oil. Oil spills also affect other animals that land on the oil slicked waters.

These animals are the birds that land on the ocean waters to fish for their food (excuse the pun). When they land where the oil has spilled onto the ocean water they become covered in the slippery oil. As they are covered in this substance they will have trouble flying as their wings are unable to control the air flow on them. They will have trouble seeing objects in their path.

These animal disasters aside the oil spills cost quite a lot in terms of clean up. With the clean up the various companies who are engaged in the clean up action will have to gather the oil that is deposited on the ocean's surface. This is an immense task as the oil has the potential to spread out in every direction. This will also cause other problems in turn as the oil approaches the beaches of various countries which are in its tidal path.

The reasons for oil spills are human in nature. The cost of cleaning up these oil spills are immense and the cost for nature unimaginable. Perhaps someday we will find some other way of transporting this oil to its destination. Until then all that we can do is to hope that the causes for oil spills will cease and the world's oceans will become safe from man's folly.

International Car Shipping

First of all, you want to get your vehicle ready for international car shipping. It calls for cleaning of any dirt and removing any personal items, accessories or tools that are valuable to you as well as leaving the fuel to less than a quater in the tank. (I strongly recommend shipping your car completely empty to avoid any issues with the shipping companies).

Once you compared the shipping quotes and selected a company to move your car with, you need to deliver it to the loading warehouse or directly to the ocean port. If you are not too far from a major ocean port or a big city - you may just drop off your car yourself. In other case, you can hire any of the automobile transporters to do the job for you. Make certain you pay for door-to-door delivery and note that the ultimate point is an export ocean terminal or loading warehouse of the overseas shippers. When it comes to export shipping, many of the transporters don't want to take the cars to the ports owed to congestions, time-consuming waiting lines and new TWIC card requirements . Ask your overseas shipper if they can furnish the delivery as almost all of them have their preferred vehicle transport companies.

Compulsory Documents for International Car Shipping
*** Be sure that you have on hand the original clean title for your vehicle. By "original" I mean that it must be the literal paper title supplied by your state's DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles). By "clean" I mean that it mustn't have any unsatisfied liens from the bank, credit union or any other financier. It is a prerequisite issued by the US Customs that all motorized vehicles have to be cleared for export 72 working hours before vessel's sailing date.

Option #1: Shipping Cars in Ocean Container
*** Overseas car shippers can usually provide two alternatives for you to get your car to another country: ocean container shipping or roll-on roll-off shipping. If you select ocean container option then the overseas transporter will load and tie down your car inside the ocean container most probably with other freight or cars. This is a low-budget and dependable method because the shipping company will only bill you for space that your vehicle is occupying inside the container. Another positive moment is that the container will be blocked and sealed for the whole duration of the overseas travel.

Option #2: Shipping Cars via Roll-on Roll-off carrier
*** With roll-on roll-off (RO-RO) oversea shipping your car will be need to be taken straightaway to the port and then secured inside the special vehicle carrier ship. What it involves is the port longshoremen will drive it onto the vessel at the point of origin and then drive it off the vessel at the point of destination. Your car will not be placed inside a blocked container and it's open for anybody to get inside (that's typically when personal items and accessories go missing). Ro-Ro routes are also restricted in the countries coverage so depending upon your origin & destination this option might not be obtainable for your country. Another note is that ports won't admit non-operable vehicle for roll-on roll-off transport service.

A few days after the vessel sails your international car shipping company will send back the original title to you along with their transportation bill of lading and directions on how to claim your vehicle at the place of arrival. It is always safe to get hold of the overseas port agent beforehand to re-confirm the estimated arrival dates and get the paperwork managed to accelerate the discharge and delivery process of your car.

What You Should Look For In A Virtual Drum Machine

A good software

beat maker is going to have a few things in common with any good piece of software. For one thing, it is going to be easy to use. This may not seem like that big a deal, but when it comes to creative expression, this could be the most important thing to look for in a beat maker.

A lot of song writers want to have as many bells and whistles as possible, but sometimes this can cause more problems then it is worth. For instance, if you want to make a quick beat and don't want to create different sound envelopes for re-verb, chorus, distortion or other effects, you are better off using a simple software beat maker since laying down a solid beat would be priority number-one.

With a simple software beat maker, you can easily spend less than $50 and start writing beats from your computer in minutes. Also, it is usually very easy to export the beat as an mp3 file (obviously more expensive music software will provide many more export options), and then you could simply copy and paste the beat into your favorite sequencer and use the beat as a loop. This gives you much more control then using a sample loop because you have much more control over how the beat sounds. In other words, the beat you make on the beat maker is yours and yours alone and ready-made for your original song. If you so desired, you could even add other effects to the beat from the sequencer or cut-and-paste different parts of the beat to get some very interesting and original sounds.

The reason many people like software beat makers has to do with the way they allow a song writer to quickly add a bass drum, sneer or hi-hat to different parts of the time-measure without needing hardware like pads or keyboards or heaven-forbid, a real drum-set. In this way, a software beat maker allows a song-writer to quickly create a beat that fits the type of song they are interested in writing. Some song writers are better at making great hooks with synthesizers or other piano based hardware and simply want a quick beat in the right time-signature to get them started. A $40 beat maker is ideal for these types of song-writers, especially considering the fact that the cheaper the beat maker, the more simple it will be to use; more money usually means more bells and whistles.

The nice thing about software beat makers is that you can usually find a few that can be downloaded on to your computer which you can then play around with. This will allow you to try out different beatmakers, usually on a "free" version that will not allow you to export the song, or have other limitations like allowing only a few samples to be used or not being able to save the beat. However, if you make a great beat on a beat maker after a few minutes of using the software, chances are the beat maker is worth purchasing because this is a great sign you can flow creatively with this interface. When picking out a software beat maker, you should always make sure the interface is user-friendly and has at least a limited number of effects to suite your song-writing needs.

The bottom line is that there may not be one software beat maker that does everything you want, but you will find that for very little money you can download and use one that has almost everything you want. A drum beat is the backbone of a song, and so making a good beat on a good piece of software should be important to you. Just remember that you won't have to break the bank to find a solid software beat maker that will have you making quality beats before you know it.

UKTI SME exhibition information help

UK small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) who are starting to export could benefit from the £10 million new 2006-7 programme of overseas exhibitions drawn up jointly by UKTI and trade organisations. More experienced exporters considering their first move into the China or India markets can also benefit from the programme.
The restructured scheme is now open for applications under the new name Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) and one hundred accredited trade organisations have already nominated 600 overseas exhibition events where UK companies could gain new export opportunities. The scheme was previously known as SESA (Support for Exhibitions and Seminars Abroad).
Eligible companies can apply to receive a grant from UKTI for participation at all of the 600 events. At 300 key events UKTI will also support trade associations to raise the profile of groups of UK companies attending. China and India have been selected for special focus because they are market priorities for most UK sectors.
Trade Minister Ian Pearson said:
‘This is good news for new exporters who want to enter overseas markets through participating in trade shows. It’s a big programme of some 600 exhibitions in 54 countries. Our support for groups attending 300 ‘key events’ will enable trade associations to showcase Britain to an international audience.’
Two other continuing schemes from UK Trade & Investment provide further opportunities to visit overseas markets. Market Visit Support is aimed at small and medium sized companies who are either new to export or new to certain markets. Available through UKTI International Trade Advisors around the UK, Market Visit Support helps companies to visit overseas markets either individually or as part of an organised group. In addition UKTI will continue to provide support for companies joining missions and seminars targeted at specific industry sectors.
How the Tradeshow Access Programme will work: 1. Accredited Trade Organisations (ATOs: mainly trade associations and chambers of commerce) will organise UK groups at shows and forward applications for TAP support to UKTI.
2. UKTI International Trade Teams in the English Regions and Devolved Administrations will approve businesses for TAP and offer other support services to help effective participation and market entry.
3. Eligible businesses can receive up to three fixed-amount grants of £1800 for taking part in UK groups or £1500 for independent participation in shows.
4. China and India have been selected for special focus because they are market priorities for most UK sectors.
5.UKTI will continue to support sectoral trade missions and overseas seminars under initiatives run by sector teams and co-ordinators, and Market Visit Support through International Trade Advisors.

Great Ways To Simplify Your Overseas Move

If you have to move overseas, then there are a few things that can help you in simplifying the process. Some need to be done before and some during the move, but doing these things can definitely help lessen your stress level. Some of these measures are mentioned below.

Get Rid Of Unwanted And Unused Items. Once your move is confirmed, then rummage through all your household items and isolate the things that are not needed in your new destination. Organize a garage sale to get rid of all your old, unwanted or simply unused items. There is no point in lugging everything if you are just going to dump it in an out of the way corner in your new home.

If your furniture is old and creaky then dispose of it. An international shipping company will be charging you based on the size of your items and not on weight. Check out the voltage and the side on which the cars drive in your host country. If they don't match, sell your car before you go and buy a new one when you arrive at your destination. You could even donate it to charity.

Close All Your Accounts. As the moving-day approaches, start closing down all your accounts such as bank accounts and apply for the disconnection of all your utilities such as cable, Internet, power, water, etc. Clear off their bills in advance instead of waiting till the last day.

Employ The Services Of An International Shipping Company. This is one of the most important things to do so you have peace of mind before, during, and after your move. Check out the various services offered by different moving companies before deciding on any one of them. An international shipping company, which offers packing, transporting, clearing and unpacking services should be preferred.

If their packing charges are high, then you can do the packing yourself. You will need to purchase bubble-wrap, wrapping paper or newsprint and packing tape along with cartons to pack and seal your household items.

The international shipping company of your choice should have its own trucks for transportation, should have tracking features, whereby you can monitor the progress of your items, should be aware of the correct procedure and custom duties of your host country and should also have an office in the host country for better co-ordination.

In addition, the international shipping company should also help you in insuring your items during transit and storage to prevent any financial loss in case things go wrong. The rates offered by the international shipping company too should be reasonable and their services should be prompt and their efforts sincere.

Whether you are packing yourself or letting the company do the packing, it is better if you pack your items room-wise and mark the name of the room on the cartons. That way, when your cartons reach your new home, you can unload them in the proper room and unpack them in a simple manner.

So, in short, take only those items that are absolutely necessary in your new home. Dispose of all other items and plan the shutdown of your utilities and accounts before the due date. Hire an economical international shipping company that can take care of all your moving issues in an organized and professional manner. Happy moving!

Coffee and Carnations Colombias Biggest Exports

iggest Export

In figures recently published, the first three months of 2007 have been exceptionally profitable for Colombia, showing an increase in Colombias G.D.P by 8.09%, the highest growth the country has experienced in 29 years.

Further to this, the country has also enjoyed the direct investment of USD 3.72 billion value so far this year. An increase of 3 times that which was invested last year.

The countrys geographic location to the United states and to Europe, the increase in domestic security, low inflation rates and a strong export industry are cited as the factors which have contributed to the recent steady economic improvement which according to these early figures, looks set to continue for now at least.

The most profitable exports Colombia offers include petrol, gold, and bannanas, but two of it's biggest products, coffee and fresh cut flowers continue to lead the economy in economic return.

Thanks to the efficiency and speed of the Internet as a key tool of order and delivery in the florticulture industry, global demand for floral produce has increased dramatically since the mid 1990's.

As well as traditional occasions for giving flowers such as wedding, funerals and birthdays, the conveneince of being able to order and send flowers quickly has made them a poular gift choice of convenience, for last minute or 'forgotten' occasions. As well, an increasing number of consumers are purchasing flowers for personal use, to decorate homes and office foyers all over the world.

The Flower Council of Holland reports that consumption of fresh cut flowers in the United States is now worth USD $8880 million per year, spent by an average of 28% of American households. But relative to the market in Europe, of which an average of 60% of households spend money on flowers, the profit potential in this industry is enormous.

While commercial production of flowers only began in Colombia in the 1960's, relatively late compared to an already flourishing industry in Western Europe, Colombia now owns the second largest export market for its fresh cut flowers, second only the The Netherlands.

The geographic location of the country and its temperate climate, providing perfect growing conditions for a variety of popular stems gives Colombia a strong advantage for success in the florticulture business, with beautiful fresh flowers in close range for fresh deliveries to the flower markets in Europe and the USA.

Today, 3 out of 4 flowers sold in the United States are now produced in Colombia, there are close to 1 million people making their income from the industry, with more than 170,000 direct and in-direct jobs produced by the market demand.

Asocolflores, the independant association that represents the growers in Colombia, cites the flower industry as one of the most important for Colombias economic future. As well as the increasing profits from consumer demand, florticulture is an industry that encourages employment opportunities for women, who account for more than 65% of the industrys workforce.

The organisation provides support for these workers and their families, including housing finance assistance, as well as recreation, education and childcare support programs, contributing to the the well being of members of the industry, and in turn, the overall well being of the greater community.

In the coffee industry, Colombia is one of fifty countries that supplies the worlds demand for coffee. The Jesuit missionaries brought coffee plants with them as early as the 1800's where they found ideal conditions for their crops to thrive. Coffee has been growing in Colombia ever since.

The high altitude of the main coffee regions such as Bogota and Bucaramanga provide rich, volcanic soil, a steady mild temperature and high rainfall, allowing the industry today to produce coffee beans all year round, with the main harvests being in October and April or May. Today, Colombia is home to more then 500,000 independant growers.

During the 1990's tough competition was presented from rival coffee exporters in Asia and Africa, to meet a growing demand from consumers around the world. The coffee produced in these countries flooded the market, bringing prices to record lows that looked set to destroy what was once one of Colombias most lucrative export industrys.

Since then, Colombias coffee industry has struggled to retain its position as one of the top coffee exporters of the world, but its reputation for quality beans with a rich aroma and strong flavour has helped seal a deal that looks set to cement the future of the industry for the next few years at least.

As the Latin Business Chronical reported in May this year, The Colombian Coffee Federation signed a deal with Coca-Cola for the distribution of Colombia's coffee to the consumer giant's portfolio of 425,000 restaurant clients in the United States.

The deal is set to tip the balance of market growth back into Colombias favour, with an expected increase in export growth of 4% in total value, compared to the dissapointing 0.22% result in 2006.

Like the Asocolflores association supporting the cut flower industry in Colombia, the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia provides many social service benefits to members of the coffee industry and their families.

The organisations stated mission is 'to help Colombian coffee growers develop agronomic expertise, improved living conditions and to promote Colombian coffee to the world,' and it does so by providing assistance in the form of quality assurance standards and testing, education, healthcare and improved infastructure to coffee growing communities, particularly in the more remote communities of the country.

Colombia's thriving export activities, and indeed the stability of the rest of the economy is good news for not just the world's consumers, but also for the people of Colombia. They are beginning to experience the trust of the global community in their countrys future, bringing with it better opportunity for employment and the improvement of social, political and environmental challenges the country has struggled with for many years
